To add the “lights”, use mini pompoms and a hot glue gun. Just add a drop of glue to each pom and place it where you want it on the tree hat. Use a yellow pom for the star on top.

Overalls

Round 1: With Green yarn, chain 16. Sl st to the first chain to form a loop (15).
Round 2-7: SC around for 6 rounds to make Leg 1. Then BO.

Repeat steps 1-7 for Leg 2 but don’t bind off.

Round 8: SC 15 on Leg 2 and then insert hook into a space on Leg 1, SC 15. You now have 1 round with 30 SC.
Round 9: *SC 4, inc* around (36).
Round 10: *SC 5, inc* around (42).
Round 11: *SC 6, inc* around (48).

Rounds 12-16: SC around for 5 rounds.
Round 17: *SC 6, dec* around (42).
Round 18: *SC 5, dec* around (36). Then BO.

To make the straps, attach a new piece of green yarn to a space on the last row, above the center of one leg. Chain 16, turn, and SC 15 into that chain. Sl st to the same stitch. Repeat on a stitch over the other leg.

Weave in any ends and trim the excess yarn. You’re done with the outfit for your crochet elf pattern!

Assembly

Now that we have all the parts of our easy crochet elf pattern ready, we can start assembling him! Add stuffing to the legs, body, and arms if you haven’t already. With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: *Chain 4, SC into the next st*, *rep around
Fasten off leaving a long strand for sewing onto the head.

Hair (Girl Version)
With hair color, create a slip knot and attach with a SC to the back loop of any stitch within your last round of your hat. You will be working in the BLO for this round.
Round 1: Chain 25, *2HDC into the 2nd chain from your hook, HDC into the next*. *Continue this pattern down your chain until you reach your hat. Skip the next ST in your hat, SC into the adjacent ST. This completes one curl, continue these steps until you have a total of 18 curls.
Next, SC into the remaining sts until you reach your first curl (this will create the bangs). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

– Sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at round 27.
– Next, we will make the bib and straps to the overalls.

1. With Accent A make a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 20. We will be using the center 10 stitches for our bib portion. I used the nose to help me find the center and counted 5 stitches on each side to find my 10 middle stitches.

2. Ch 1 and make 10 HDC across (10)

Ch 1 and turn, we will now work across in rows. (Turning your mini elf upside down or right side up with each row will help in easily reaching your stitches, find what is comfortable for you.)

3. HDC across, ch 1 and turn (10) Complete 2 more rows for a total of 4 rows. At the end of your last row chain 20 for your first strap.

4. Reach across the back (around the neck) to the opposite side (the straps will make an ‘x’ when complete) and slip stitch into a front loop from round 20. Fasten off and weave in your end.

5. Create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to the other (front) side of your bib. Chain 20 and attach with a slip stitch to the opposite side on the back as before. Fasten off and weave in your ends. 

-Next, sew your pom onto the tip of your hat.
-Find the desired placement of your hat and sew into place with a running stitch along the hairline.
– Lastly, with a scrap piece of Accent A fold your hat tip over and sew into the crease to keep desired shape.
